I have the impression that McCain doesn't want to put a stake in the ground on this. He has sided with Bush for seven of the past eight years so he has lots of blood on his hands.

If I were McCain I would not want to hear Bush/McCain Economic Policies repeatedly during the debate either. And he as nothing with which to respond. He was a Senate Leader with a Republican President for Six years and they let the problem just cook away.

This election is too important to "suspend" debate simply because McCain is unable to multitask.

haha, what a total joke show. He just blew it IMO.

If McCain were president would he ask Iraq to "hold on" so he could deal with the economy too?

Of course, now he will attack Obama with something like "Obama cares more about winning this race, than his country."

Sorry, but multi-tasking is part of the job dudio.

I think Obambi's in a no-win situation: He either follows McCain's lead, showing McCain to be a leader, or he carries on w/ his campaign while our financial system goes down the drain. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes right now!

I don't think this is a political "show" either: Remember that McCain postponed the start of the GOP convention due to the emergency on the Gulf coast. This is typical McCain. Remember his comment to Obambi that he "...would rather lose the election than lose the war!"

Don't believe everything you think

Yea, it's a slimeball Rove move, but I don't think anybody is going to buy it. He's already getting killed in the polls, especially in regards to the economy.

It's a hail Mary, just like Palin was.

Considering EVERYONE is pointing out that it is the REPUBLICANS that made much of this mess, I don't see him as particularly in bad shape.

He has to focus on how he positions his policies and commitments but he has the skills for that. He doesn't have to explain away nearly a decade of brown-nosing Bush on failed policies on Supply Side Economics, deregulation and failure to enforce that caused the mess in the first place.

"MARKETS WILL CRASH ON MONDAY"

I'm hearing credible predictions that the equity markets will crash on Monday (1000 to 2000 points) if the bailout package does not pass.

He himself has admitted he has no credentials on economic matters, doesn't even serve on any fiscal committees. The last time he got involved with bankers, he got scammed in the Keating Scandal. This sure looks like a ploy to give him some sort of economics cred.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Good. I hope the bastards get their asses burned good. The DOW has always been grotesquely overvalued in the Bush Pawn Shop Capitalism Economy. It took a huge Depression to kill off Republican bullshit the last time, it's deja vu all over again. But don't believe your "rumors", the market has circuit breakers that will come in if it falls more than 5%, so fuck your lying scare stories. I see a steady decline to 8,000 before it rises again after reforms put in by the new Democratic Administration.
