It is a difficult decision you see...

to decide between a '04 LS430 with 33k miles or a new '09 G8 GT with the 6.0liter engine and most options. The new Pontiac is 30k. The used and minty Lexus is $26k. Care to weigh in?

Of those two I would go with the Lexus. I drove a Pontiac rental two months ago that was pretty loaded. I didn't really like the build quality. Drove a Mercury Sable the next day and had similar feeling.

The lexus 430 is a good car.

I looked at the LS430 as I was looking at Es and Sssss. I ended up with the E due to both look and the way it drove. That E-Class in 500 trim is just very well balanced. For real fun, find an E55.

I haven't the slightest idea what either of those cars are, or why they're compelling, but since you like them, I'm pretty sure they're made up of pure shit.

Well what about between a '08 Range Rover Sport and a '09 Escalade or a custom ordered Mini Cooper S?

As long as the Cooper S has the Works package on it, that is a start.

I have a friend who is a RR dealer and I just don't see them moving. They and the Jags just set. And the 'sclades just remind me of Fly Suburbans.

G8 GT you can get good deals on them!

With out a doubt G8 GT. A friend of mine has one and I think it's pretty neat (dont get white though). Lots of power. but the reason I like it is that its close in performance specs to the W210 E55. And its very practical. its cheap for what you get. Cars will be worth nothing after 5 years anyway so why buy something expensive.

After seeing Bob Lutz on Colbert Report, I feel sorry for him, buy american!

Well this weekend I drove a '60 Eldorado Biarritz and a '79 Excalibur. Both vey good driving in their own way. Then I have at this moment a loaner '08 Saab sedan turbonious that is surprisingly well handling but still has that fwd crashiness over the rough stuff. Saab really has improved though overall. I remember them as something liberals and teachers drove who just didn't know better about cars and wanted to make a hollow statement. Anyone else think a big Lexus is an idealized Cadillac in long johns? That actually is a compliment. There is always an E55.

Thats my choice and in that order. For me the RR has class, the Lexus has syle and comfort and the E55 has that sporting touch.
