No Milfy, it's not about blowing up Muslims only like you highlighted. The Marriott is seen as an American institution and it is well known that it's packed with foreigners. Unless you have lived in Third World countries then you wouldn't understand the aspect of this target. For most locals those hotels are like foreign land and even seen as evil because of the booze and the pimping going on in there. If you don't believe my last stament then you absolutely have no idea what I am talking about.

Boozing and pimping Muslims being part of the target does not surprise me.

It is estimated that around 4,000 people have been killed in Shia-Sunni violence since the 1980s across Pakistan.

President Musharraf is not the only Pakistani leader to have been beset with such problems, which most analysts agree began in 1979 when General Zia ul-Haq began Islamicising Pakistani politics to legitimise his military rule.

As a result, hardline religious groups were strengthened.

You mean like Willie Nelson, baseball, Sing Sing? It's not an American embassy, it's not in America, it may as well have happened on Io. When Americans start confining their concerns to America, the world will be a better place.

Well, at least consider it to be a shot across Merka's bow. Take note, establish due diligence, then resume re-focusing on our own domestic priorities.

Why, has some group claimed responsibility yet? Mighty big boat you've got there, btw.

Am I the only non-neocon left?

The attack happened half a world away. It was an attack on, among other things, Muslims, during the "holy month" of Ramadan. The bigger question is why Muslims allow this to happen without conducting a full on lynch-mob search and destroy mission against these maniacs.

If other Muslims aren't ready to stand up to these fanatics in the name of peace, we don't stand a chance of helping matters any.

^ Touche. It was starting to get a bit lonely, not that that's anything new. And as far as I'm concerned, you're spot on.

Look, we're all over the fucking globe; am I happy about it? No way! But, even if we were to pull all of our imperial stormtroopers home today, we'd still have to maintain a COINTEL presence abroad for a while to help clean up the myriad of messes we've created over the last few decades. That's just being prudent and pragmatic. I do think the choice of this target, which is known to be a place where Western clients stay while in Pakistan, was meant to send a signal to the US. Ultimately, it's a matter of domestic concern for the Pakistanis to address, but it doesn't mean there aren't broader implications.

You should have highlighted the word "seen" right before what you honed on
