Axis of Evil is BACK. N. Korea helps Lone Iranian Point of Evil

Well, the Sterling Bushie Foreign Policy team has once again snatched DEFEAT out of the jaws of VICTORY. All those press conferences and stuff for nothing.

And, what will Macca do? I suppose since Spain is now in Latin America [Hola, España] we could simply MOVE North Korea and make it easier to get to and away from South Korea. It would involve a name change, of course. West France is not taken, nor is East Portugal. So the options are there. And it's warmer so there is less need for energy. Another option would be to put a third floor on Caribou Barbie's house so that she can also see North Korea and keep and eye on it.

All this, just in time for football season.

North Korea: Regime Preparing to Restart Nuclear Reactor

Friday, September 19, 2008

PANMUNJOM, Korea — North Korea has stopped disabling its nuclear reactor in Yongbyon and is now undertaking "thorough preparations" to restart it, a diplomat from Pyongyang said Friday.

North Korea stopped disabling the Yongbyon complex as previously agreed to because the U.S. has not kept its end of a disarmament-for-aid deal, Hyun Hak Bong told reporters at the border.

"We are making thorough preparations to restart" the facility, he said. He did not say when it would be running again.

The White House had no immediate reaction on the North Korean plans.

Hyun spoke before the start of talks at the border village of Panmunjom with South Korean officials on sending energy aid to the impoverished North amid a deadlock in the six-party disarmament talks.

A landmark 2007 pact — made with the United States, China, South Korea, Russia and Japan — called on Pyongyang to give up and disable its nuclear program in exchange for the equivalent of 1 million tons of energy aid and other benefits.

Tension on the Korean peninsula has been high since the North stopped disablement work at its main nuclear complex on Aug. 14 in protest over Washington's failure to remove the North from its list of terrorism-sponsoring countries.

The U.S. promised to remove North Korea from the terrorism list after it declares its nuclear programs, which Pyongyang did in June.

Washington argues the communist country should stay on the list until it agrees to an international inspection system to validate its declaration.

North Korea responded by putting a halt to the disabling process and is now "proceeding with works to restore (Yongbyon) to its original status," Hyun told reporters.

The two Koreas are still technically at war because the 1950-53 Korean War ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty.

U.S. officials told FOX News earlier this month that the North Koreans likely are reassembling nuclear facilities at Yongbyon partly to protest the United States' delay in taking the country off its list of terror-sponsoring nations.

"They've been threatening this move for some time," one U.S. official told FOX News, adding that until now the threats were seen as merely a way for North Korean officials "to express their anger."

Another U.S. official told FOX News that North Korea's intent might be "to put further pressure on us." The cooling tower is gone but the reactor could be back in operation in two to three months, the official said.

North Korea began disabling its plutonium-producing nuclear reactor and other facilities at its Yongbyon nuclear center in November as a step toward their ultimate dismantlement in exchange for economic aid and political concessions, including removal from the U.S. terror list. - North Korea: Regime Preparing to Restart Nuclear Reactor - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News

N. Korea that vast gulag where citizens are forced to worship their 'Great Leader,' that lets them die like flies, I think Yorkshire should deal with them as they are the closest, we need to get on with the job of bombing Pakistiran.

It was the height of foolishness to believe that North Korea would honour any treaty commitment. They haven't in the past. Why would they give up their nuclear program when they see what kind of juice it gets them on the world stage? Besides, having the program running creates great income opportunities for a cash-starved nation. Iran is pretty flush with cash and is making its nuclear ambition no secret.

I always felt that as long as Kim's around the deal would not happen. But when Kim kicks I can see real progress--and the initial incursion by Rice and her team may just have laid the groundwork for success.

Don't believe everything you think
