The situation as is

I would of thought that food was more important than fuel NO?After Ike, Texas survivors clamor for gas, food - Yahoo! News

lol. exactly and as i remeber from Katrina, TVs and all kinds of other crap came before the "basic" necessities.

You can't run generators and UPSs with food. With gas [or diesel] you can. When Lexington was without power for 8 days due to an ice storm a few years ago, I snagged 25 gallons of fuel quickly. It kept my generators running which kept the refrigerator, furnace, lights and essentials up and running for me and two sets of elderly neighbors.

Food, that can ship in pretty quick.


Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.
