Just when things were starting to get back to about as normal as they get around here someone shits on a fan.
Our number one electrician, good friend, and God father to my youngest daughter, is going back to Iraq.
He has been home about 2.5 years and working for us for a little over 2 years now. He is honest, dedicated, smart, funny and willing to work 36 hour shifts if that is asked of him. And now we have to try to replace him. At least for the next 18-24 months until he returns safely to us.His deployment date being in Feb. 09 caught him by 2 days. With his 9 month old son at home now he was planing on ending his 10 year long career in the Army National Guard and getting in some family time. His date of separation was Nov. 24th.
The stop loss date which is automatically 90 prior to deployment date is Nov.22ND. He is not thrilled about going back, the last time he was there we both lost 2 good friends, but he has no regrets for going back. He will be leading the men he trained and he would not have it any other way. He was in a very active combat zone last deployment and it looks as though he will be paired up with special forces on this tour so I don't think we have to worry about him being bored. Special forces does not automatically mean covert ops and hand to hand combat but could also mean training locals how to fight, which he did last tour as well. Keep him and all of our fighting forces in your thoughts and prayers. And don't forget to thank a service man or woman for their sacrifice, regardless of which party is in the oval office.
