They are firing it up in about fifteen minutes. If your desk gets sucked into your concrete floor, well, see ya in the next Big Bang.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address

I think it will be worth it, just to prevent November 4th.

Or maybe it's a master plan to distract us from the economic implosion, idk.

I think it's amazing how long it takes to accelerate the particle to that speed; think about how much energy will be used in that amount of time.

I'm not concerned about the theory of a resulting black hole; there's already one in Washington called "Capitol Hill".

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. (Winston Churchill)

Wifie said no wonder nothing happened. No way a room full of Geeks was going to get a Big Bang.

Piteous Mew at best.

I had no comment.

All the arguments are based on the fact that we are still here.
Ruling our a possibility just because the event has not happened yet is not a convincing physic-al argument.
What are the odds as calculated by the verified theories ? Oh, there are none , that's figures.

The safety of the LHC
The continued existence of the Earth and other astronomical bodies therefore rules out ...

The continued existence of such dense bodies, as well as the Earth, rules out the possibility of the LHC producing any dangerous black holes...
