Value in a Landrover ?

I found quite a few of these 4.6HSE Range Rovers lately, and they seem low mileage and amazingly low price.

Are these huge heaps of crap?

Weren't these like $70-80k brand new?

I wonder if they have horrible reliability and/or service requirements. Anybody have experience with these?

I am curious too, my wife is pregnant with twins and I need something a little bigger to carry all their crap around in. From what I have heard the best ones to get are the ones when they where using a BMW engine.

I have no experience with these, but I have always heard that they go to crap quickly. Another reason with the low price could have something to do with having a V8. I saw a beautiful burgundy 2004 navigator the other day with a sticker of 14,500. Hopefully someone with experience with this particular vehicle will chime in. Seems like a good time to pick up a cheap SUV. If you can afford the gas that is. I drive 50 miles a day so I don't plan on getting one.

Good luck.

Parts for landrovers are breathtakingly expensive and their poor resale value reflects that fact.

The 4.6 engine is the final iteration of the Buick Aluminum V8 of 1961 and despite all the new fuel injection remains a gas hog while at the same time producing little power.

The values are what they are same as all SUVs being dumped these days.

That said, I really loved my Range Rover Classic.

Yeah this is part of a larger decision in general, which would seperate me from the 210 I currently rock. I'm considering getting a 4wd suv or truck ( thinking ML, range rover, etc) for winter and a rwd 2 door manual something for the other half of the year. 2 weather-based vehicles instead of the one awd V8 tank I lug around every day...

I doubt it's going to happen, my 210 is fixed up and pretty tip-top right now, I should enjoy it for some time to come.

Anything land rover/range rover is crap...they leak like hell, the only reason they are so overpriced is because they look nice

but trust me on this one, i work at a dealership and range rovers are by far the worst...THEY ARE AMERICAN MADE for gods sake....go get yourself a nice german or japanese car

Get a 99 Discovery, you will enjoy its unique look and offroad capabilities. You can pick one up for around 5k with 70,000 miles on it.

GAS is bringing suv's down, so if you love the offroad sport, go LR.

Japanese and German cars still need to realize there are people not looking for a sports SUV, offer a real contender. BTW, nice try toyota...

A good friend of mine just bought a CPO Range Rover sport with 15k miles on it and the salesperson at the dealer highly recommended the extended warranty which he did buy. I read that the Range Rover/Land Rover is the most unreliable vehicle you can buy. Needless to say his battery went bad within 2 weeks of the car purchase but covered under warranty. He has had it for about 2 months now. Real nice to look at and they drive more like a car. Doesn't some Indian company named Tata now own Land Rover?
