Quale was picked for the very reasons that Palin was picked. Both are/were new Generation speaking from the far right. Both were picked as they had little to run AGAINST [they were a very small target at first glance] and their IDEALS to vote FOR [both very family values cater to the Christian Coalition].

The common denominator: Ralph Reed.

Actually, we were just discussing this episode at work the other day. Apparently Quayle had made those comparisons on the stump a few times, and Bentsen heard about it while hunkered down with one of his speech coaches, Michael Shadow*. Shadow saw Bentsen's visceral reaction to the laughable contention and immediately saw grist for the mill. The two of them then planned out Bentsen's response should Quayle repeat during the debate. Sure enough, he did, and you can see Bentsen break into a smirk just as Dan takes the bait--classic.

*Shadow lectured in one of my grad school classes, and impressed me with his amazing presence and commanding delivery.

So, what is the falsehood in the fact checking?

And yes, nearly every right wing blog did what they could to tear Obama and Biden's speeches apart. Problem was, they were fact checked prior to the mic being turned on so it might not have been such a long list.

Fine, marry Palin, have fun with her and keep her mind off other things.

But he has a future to try and look forward to. The Republican plan just hocks the future for a bit of instant gratification. Great for old farts, sucks for the next generations.

With all this Palin bashing and trashing, I find it interesting, since moral character is being discussed, WHY a known, admitted plagiarist isn't being discussed?

I'm not sure what that thing on McCain's face is, but I don't think it's the plague...

And I hate to break this to you, but the gauntlet has been officially thrown. You either want the GOP to be taken over permanently by right-wing religious fundies or you don't. That's the problem with the Palin choice. She is being touted as the "future of the GOP". Is that the future you want? Don't make me post my favorite Goldwater quote again...
