It seems McCain is still fairly popular here, the tide against him is apparently due to his choice of running mate. Palin is not playing well here at all.

Updated Zogby map has flipped VA, and has Obama leading every purple state.

CNN's map is even more grim, it is showing a bunch of red states "pink". I think the Palin thing is finally sinking in with the general electorate.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

CNN had a poll that showed McCain behind by two points in AZ.

I've always thought Georgia would be the DNC's best chance for busting open the Deep South. They have an enormous minority population and lots of Yankees. Give it another two years.

This kind of stuff should worry you, IMO. My gut tells me that McCain will win AZ, and likely by 5+ points. If that's true, and this poll is off by 7 points..... Well, do the math and carry that error across the country -- this might be a more interesting race than you anticipate. Of course, if the numbers are right, McCain will understand the night Dukakis had some 20 years ago...
