Wow. Joe Biden looks different now.
I am sure you realize how poorly I do predicting these things, in fact, you are only days away from a steak dinner, although my hope that Obama will turn the nomination over to Hillary so that he may run as VP is still alive. But if I were to venture a guess, I would say that the smartest thing for Obama to do is make a move to put the state that I think will be the Achilles Heel of the GOP, our newest East Coast (vs Old South) state, Virginia - into his column. I'd be looking for one of these guys:
Tim Kaine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mark Warner - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Senator Jim Webb : Virginia
Warner, who is immensely popular in VA would insure the state for Obama and I think result in a Democratic victory - any crack in the wall of the GOP South would doom them. Warner has said he will not except VP, but the old "for the good of the nation and the party" thing will be a strong argument for him to change his mind. The other two would help, but not as much as Warner.
Kaine is my next bet, look at this snippet from the Wiki:
"An underdog for most of the race[2004 VA Governor -FTL] , Kaine led in some polls for the first time in October 2005, and held his lead into the final week before the election. While the previous Democratic Governor, Mark Warner, was credited with doing especially well for a Democrat in rural areas of the commonwealth, Kaine's win featured surprising triumphs in traditionally Republican areas such as Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and the Northern Virginia exurbs of Prince William County and Loudoun County, as well as impressive showings in Democratic strongholds such as Richmond and Norfolk."
He could be just as potent.
