That the APA lists a diagnosis for Alzheimer's is fine and well, but for you to extrapolate that to define Alzheimer's as a psychiatric condition requiring the services of a psychiatrist or psychologist for diagnosis is disingenuous at best.

Maybe you are trying to say these folks are not crazy, in the traditional sense of psychosis, and that these disorders are organic or physical in causation. Many, if not most, psychiatric disorders are physical in basis.
But after you see the Swiss Cheese MRI, you realize that the physical issue is due to much of the gray matter eaten away, hardened, displaced or atrophied. And that is were it starts getting interesting.

We spent four weeks at Mayo going through a battery of tests that covered every system, from blood to nerve to MRI, Cat and everything and it all boiled down to reinforcing the initial diagnosis of the General Practitioner's 10 minute observation. And the Mayo guys said that 90% of their "second opinion" references were just that, reinforcements.

Everyone likes to make a big deal about how healthy and long lived McCain's mother is but everyone forgets to mention his father and grandfather died at 61 and 70. And they did not have early health issues that III has had.

Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.
