No, what he should do is not to get involved by taking pictures and helping to press charges. That's the tenant's responsibility otherwise he may confuse this as a service and then will sue TK if shit hits the fan.
TK, tell the tenant that even though he appeared to be a victim that you would not tolerate such behavior in YOUR property and that he will have to produce a restraining order for the other person or you will evict him.
Today it's a little blood, ext time it's a body and no one would want to rent your dig.
what he said, but BEFORE you proceed with ANYTHING,
read two things thoroughly:
1. Condo Ownership Contract
2. Landlord-Tenant contract
The first will spell out what your responsibilities and expectations are as a condo owner regarding upkeep of common facilities such as hallways. The second will clearly spell out tenant's responsibilities regarding use of your rental unit.
My guess is because the way the condo deed is typically set up, you will be asked to reimburse for the damages made to the common area but the tenant, in this case, is clearly responsible for shouldering that payment.
What makes it interesting is that the goons who attacked your tenant are owners of another unit in the building - convince the condo corporation that these goons are ultimately responsible.
You would be carrying out an legal assault separately from your tenant against these goons to pay for the damages caused to the common areas.
As drew notes, do not get too involved with the tenant pressing charges - that is between your tenant and the attackers.
Take pictures of the damages and so on but use them for your own purposes only.
