Hard to put a political spin on "THE CHART SAYS...$x.xx for xxxx year".

In 1965 regular gas was .31 and min wage was 1.25. Fast forward to today $4.00 a gal and $6.55 an hour. So back then you got four gallons fo every hour worked and now you get 1.6. We don't even want to start on food and housing prices in comparison to minimum and mean wages. Now I probably will never have to worry about food, transportation and housing. The next boogeyman is already coming and that is expensive health insurance and only for the healthy.

While the median income is a bit better of a comparator, minimum to minimum works very well as the unemployment rate is just about the same [5.9% in 1963].

It's silly to make comparisons like that. Why?

Because so many things have changed in society & the economy. For example, what would all of the computing power of a mid-line Dell PC be worth back in 1965? think about how long it took back then to compute the Mercury and Gemini orbits. How much would it have cost to compute them in fractions of a second?

Being able to buy it back then, even at current prices unadjusted, it would be one hell of a deal.

Depending on the comparison, we can be considered incomparably wealthy with any time in history.

Or, how much would it cost to have full-time maid and yard service now as compared to 1965?

Stupid comparisons. By carefully selecting the right parameters you can prove any side of any argument you want to make.

Typical economic argument.

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and thatís what I intend to reverse.

It's not an economic argument. It's more a political argument. The economic argument would have had tables and facts and stuff to back it up.

And you are correct on your dell vs the punch tape used to load up the software on space missions [including Apollo]. There are casio watches that have better computing power than what Apollo had.
