Just remember that whatever issue you support him on, right now, may change in the form of another flip-flop AFTER he's elected. Judging from Bush I's 'Read My Lips' to Bill Clinton's promises of no tax hikes, only to flip-flop after he takes office saying, "I didn't realize how bad things were. I'll have to ask you to pay more". A politician is lying if his lips are moving. Sorry for the cynicism, but I call it as I see it.
So, on one thread folks are complaining that Obama is "putting down" the country when he goes to great lengths to point out the deficiencies that have built up over the years and the amount of work [and taxes] necessary to make it right and then we have folks saying that he will flip flop and say "I didn't realize how bad thing were, I'll have to ask you to pay more".
Sounds to me like everyone is actually getting the hard information but just don't want to hear it.
If you have been reading what I write, or what the liberal bloggers have been writing for the past four years, YES, there will be tax increases, no matter who is President. You can't fund the debt load, run a country, a war [even one standing down], a raging trade deficit, weak dollar and continue to bail out the financial sector without having a constant revenue stream. And when you consider the boomers that are retiring [biggest tax payers] and moving to benefits receivers, only a naive child would believe we could do so without raising taxes or drastic cuts in services.
And by services I mean Defense contracts, highway construction, Federal employment and Education. And those alone would simply tank what is left of the economy.
