Everything's political, sweetheart

There is scarcely anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse, and sell a little more cheaply. The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey. --John Ruskin

I enjoy it but I'm not gullible enough to believe that the outcome will make any noticeable difference. Remember all the Rush-type predictions that the sky will fall if we elect Clinton? Well, guess what, it didn't fall. Not only that, I bet most here like myself had the best decade of our lives. As I’ve said before, the chances are there is a skull and bones club type "OZ" pulling the strings of the wicked witch of both the R's and D's behind the scene, immune from retribution and laughing as we tilt at the windmills they have erected.
Think about it: after 40 years of amazing technological change, that was supposed to change our lives, what has really changed about us? Answer: nothing. We're still as prone to selfish, shoddy behavior as ever before, perhaps more so. Not only are we just as prone to go to war as ever before but now we'll even go to war with the wrong country and can't be man enough to apologize. Very bizarre behavior. I think what is needed is a religious (or irreligious) revolution, where we examine ourselves if we really want change. There is a lot of conditioning in each of us that needs examining. If you happen to have been raised a capitalist you hate communist, whites hate blacks, Catholics think they have a leg up on protestants, Texans are better than Yankees, Americans hate the French, etc. People carry too many unexamined conclusions around which creates distorted thinking. You can't put tea in a full cup and you can't think clearly when you're mind is full of other peoples ideas - we're second hand people. Look at 95 percent of the debate that occurs here. Everyone is hurling bumper sticker slogans at each other they've heard elsewhere. Hurling an epithet on the playground and running away hardly constitutes an argument - although sometimes it can be fun...
