I visited Fort Worth Cultural District back in the early part of '90s, which was obviously nothing like what it is today.

As bad luck would have it, we arrived there on Monday and only that day to stay, therefore, I could not gain admission into Kimbell Art Museum as it is closed on Mondays.

Louis Kahn is perhaps one of my favorite modern masters, along with Aalto. The former an Estonian and the latter a Finn, I can only speculate that there must be something in the waters of Baltic Sea.

I have not returned to DFW area since then, and there are many new noteworthy works of architecture that have been built. I am curious to see Ando's Modern Art Museum as well as reconfigured Amon Carter Museum.

A good friend of mine was involved with the design of Rachofsky House in Dallas by Richard Meier. Once you've seen a Meier work, you've pretty much seen it all was my jaded friend's quip, but I'd see it anyway.

You would not believe the change that has/is taking place in the cultural district. Cypress Equities purchased most of the land on 7th Street where Acme brick was and are redeveloping it for multiuse. I have a lot next to the old Montgomery Wards building (that is now retail on the ground floor and condos above) where I'll build a studio to show my work on the ground floor and live above.
Yes, the Kimball is great, too bad it was closed but hopefully you went around to the side of the building and spent some time with the outdoor Noguchi sculptures. The new Modern is phenomenal as well - I can spend all day with the Anselm Kiefer collection.
Now if I could just convince them to purchase some Claude Roy Lesieur and Gustav Klimt...

I too left the area back in the mid early eighties but I am impressed by all the changes since whenever I go back to visit my parents. Billy Bob's is still there though LOL

I went to Billy Bob's back when I used to work for pier 1 Imports! We also went to Dallas' trendy West End in a "Cowboy Cadillac". Almost got run over by a train, there.

I'd come home from work every day smelling like eucalyptus. I suppose there's worse things.

BTW...whenever I mention Key West here, my heterosexuality is called into question, you Rectum Romeo.
