Here goes, algebra alert.

Assuming a balanced budget,
A + B = C + D where A is contribution to the CGF by illegals , B is contribution by legals , C is consumption of the CGF by illegals , D is consumption of the CGF by legals.
If A > C, it mathematically means B < D.
You Assume:
  • a balanced budget.
  • a consistent flow of contribution.
  • a consistent flow of consumption.
  • equal weighting of contributions and consumption.

Many services are used by EVERYONE, whether 10,000 or 34Million. Other services are used only by a select sub group. Still others are NEVER used by specific sub groups. Yet all funds draw from the same general fund.

The contributions and consumption of services by undocumented aliens was calculated by the State, primarily to prove just how much UAs COST the state. The surprise that they did not cost, but generated provided much of the basis for many of California's immigration policies.

You have to move well beyond basic Algebra for the calculations you are trying to derive. Get comfortable with formulae that have greater than 512 characters in them for your spreadsheet to begin to work this one out. I know it would take me days to write it out with any degree of certainty.

Nice try. You did not identify a single problem with my logic
and instead implied it's "junk science".
Now, I understand how the Kalicrats got into this mess.

Oh, BTW, the balanced budget assumption does not change the conclusion as long as there is a budget deficit which we have now.

I identified your logic as incorrect. Does that count?

Here, play with the numbers and try and figure out what point you are trying to make, It certainly is not your command of economics.

I really don't care if California's Undocumented Alien population covers their costs or not, that just happens to be a fact. It is a fact that is fully unrelated to either Medi-Cal's current funding issue or how the general fund is populated.

Isn't it amazing how you go from post #1 trying to be clever and think you have a little link between Undocumented Aliens and Medi-Kal and a link I posted months ago about how UA's actually bring in more revenue to the system than they take away.

And then, just 23 posts later you are defending 9th grade Algebra equations to argue that it must be true that the legal citizens are not pulling their weight ONLY IF the UAs are pulling their weight, without further calculative consideration.

That is some swing and miss.

Budgeting is all about simple math.
I have no idea why you confuse simple math with economic mumbo jumbo.

More indirect implications of "junk science". Keep trying.

What calculatice considerations do you use to balance your bank account ?

I see here's where the disagreeable smokey surfaces.

Back in 1990 I helped the state Senate Majority Leader compile the first Kentucky budget that was done via spreadsheet and in realtime. We were able to, during budget negotiations do realtime modeling, using a plotter and very rudimentary printing system to show the changes as the meetings progressed [things we take for granted now].

If you think State Budgets are simple math you are very sadly mistaken. It is not just a simple double entry accounting that runs a state with $145Billion in Expenditures [as California has].

I am not suggesting your approach was junk science, just that it lacks the understanding of the complications that go with a budget and system of that size.

You have no idea why I "confuse" simple math with economics mumbo-jumbo? Because State budgeting is done with advanced Economics, not simple math and that is the spoken language of the profession.
