Libertarians lose another one: Running Bear, Running Bare

I see his foreign policy more in the NeoCon sphere that that of the Libertarians. That could be the issue. Well, and that porn thing. That's so NC.

Billy Lone Bear: Sonny Lone Candidate

Sonny Landham, the actor-turned-candidate who starred in the movie Billy Lone Bear, is now a lone candidate.

He and the Kentucky Libertarian Party have decided to "amicably go their separate ways" according to a press release issued by his campaign. He'll instead run for U.S. Senate as an independent, the press release said.

The party says it kicked him from its ticket.

Landham had come under fire in recent days for his anti-arab and anti-muslim comments. The Courier-Journal reported recently that Landham called arab people "camel-dung-shovelers" and advocated "bombing them into the sand" if OPEC didn't lower oil prices.

Then last week, the Associated Press reported that he said the U.S. should have bombed Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries following the Sept. 11 attacks.

In his release, Landam's campaign said, "The Libertarian Party of Kentucky, under constant pressure from the Libertarian National Committee and other Party members from outside the state, capitulated and agreed to remove their endorsement from Mr. Landham's campaign."

Landham had previously raised some eyebrows because, prior to breaking into mainstream movies in the 1980s, he was a porn actor, starring in the title role of the movie "Big Abner" and as Lane the Milkman in "The Trouble with Young Stuff."

Wow, there seems to be an odd strain of "libertarians" who don't seem to get actual libertarian foreign policy concepts.

Just goes to show the high standards of the Party, that they would even consider turning away such a remarkably high profile individual for something as trivial as Jayhawking.

Sounds like someone we know.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
