One group comes largely from people who have what is loosely termed a 'protestant work ethic'. The other group does not.

Isn't that it - in a nutshell?
No, you can't break it into "protestant work ethic" and "not". First, there are a diverse number of work ethics in this country [as in any country]. Also you cannot clump the "not" into a singular stereotype. That group too has many diverse variations.

And to go back to your initial comment of investigating the genetic background of the "two types of folks", they don't call the United States the Melting Pot of the World for no reason. There is no "two types".

You mean people send out mind-waves forcing others to remain in situ? I should tell my neighbors that they are in the wrong 'hood. Or I am. Which is it?

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and that’s what I intend to reverse.
