I guess I did miss the point, you, Democrats and the rest of the Liberals are NOW for the war..I get it. (or put differently, you were always for the war in Afgan, but were keeping it to yourselves until we close to the Elections.
That makes sense, I now get it, yup, I get it now.....
Go back and search just this forum. You will find scores of references for building troop strengths in Afghanistan WHERE THE REAL ISSUE IS. You will see scores of references to the shame of pulling resources from the ACTUAL War Against Terrorists and redirecting them to the SHAM of the Invasion of Iraq which had Nothing to do with the War Against Terrorists.
So, no, we have not been keeping it to ourselves, you folks just have not been paying attention.
Am I concerned about an expansion of the war in Afghanistan? Yes and no. I am always sorry to see troops in harm's way. From personal experience I can tell you that is just not fun. But from a strategic outlook, THAT is where our work should have been done from the get go. Had we fully stabilized Afghanistan and used diplomacy to address the rest of the region we would be in a much better situation.
We would not have troop depletion issues, we would not have troops spread out in multiple conflicts. We would not have IRAN as active in the politics of a destabilized Iraq.
The Left has never been about avoiding conflict or avoiding our responsibilities. We just believe it is better to work SMART. Afghanistan is a logical, strategic operation against terrorists. That is Smart. Iraq is a fabricated, petty, personal vendetta by Bush and Cheney. That was just plain STUPID.
Go back and search and you will see that the commitment and the understanding of the stan is all throughout BWOT. And wander through nearly every Democratic website and you will see the same [google archives will assure you these aren't "current" views].
