The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and thatís what I intend to reverse.

Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.

It is a defensive posture and outlook that makes manning up to a mistake equal to becoming smaller. When I grew up the act of admitting to being wrong and fixing the defect in your decision making process was considered something that demonstrated character. I think you have lowered your standards to the point where you offer poorly considered excuses for Bush's defects in character.

While I agree it would be nice to have politicians with true character and integrity, I considered GS's question rhetorical considering Bush's complete lack of character and integrity. Jim

I see an organization that runs on blatant hypocrisy.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I make no excuse for GW or his character at all. The observation was that GW is vilified for no dialogue, then vilified for dialogue. Whichever of those two things, those two behaviors, that you find most acceptable should, at least, result in less criticism.
