At least that's what it makes me wonder...today...
$10 billion is not nothing. It seems like nothing because of the horrific state the Bush administration will have left our country in. When it seems like something again, you'll know we're back close to where we ought to be.

^ When less than 200 people can contribute less than half the money they made over one million dollars in a year, and it adds up to $10 billion, well, we have one of two situations. Either $10 billion is nothing, or we've allowed the chasm between the rich and the rest of us to become so large as to be an immense risk to society and the economy.

One of the best movies ever made. Turned me on to African tribal music. It's never on tv before 3am but I make a point to stay up and watch it everytime it's on.

Let's just take all their money, its in the CoTUS, right? Lets establish a maximum wage law, we can do that, right? What should be the penalty for.being successful?

Penalty for being successful? I dunno about that...if there's a big incentive for them to not let their money create steaming piles that just stink up the place, I don't think a "maximum wage law" would be necessary.

(That bit about the tax, I'll say again, was to illustrate how insignificant a figure $10 billion is anymore. We're all maybe 3 - 4 degrees away from someone who could write that check themselves. There's no "sarcasm" smiley; sorry you couldn't smell it through the internet, what with that new VW plant breaking ground and polluting the air near you.)

You have come a long way from the hallowed halls of conservatism my friend, it may be time to backtrack a little.

I've now seen the allure of the power of the dark side.

But alas, I cannot go further down the path to darkness.

You know, darkness. that place where Jayhawk hangs out all day.

In his underwear.

You'll be alright. Just repeat after me, conservatism does not equal GOP, conservatism does not equal GOP, at least not currently.

I don't say you don't spend what you don't have, I detest deficit spending. I suggest retasking what we do have. We have a $3Trillion Revenue flow that, if managed with NO deficit spending could address the needs of the Country and her People.

History has shown that an educated population is an capital asset, not a liability. You invest in assets.

That's all fine and dandy -- once the national debt has been satisfied and people aren't being cheated out of their SS checks. You don't pay your debts by creating new ones.
