Well, I have stayed in an Holiday Inn Express.

Oh, you're guessing and betting, now? As they say, "fantasy fills in where reality is missing."

No, I'm not guessing or betting. I don't need to.

And no, after being bitten by a rattlesnake at Philmont Scout Reservation back in the sixties I tend to stay away from them.

The majority were removed from an area about 40 miles from where I grew up. Lots of nutty religious folks down that way. Incredibly stupid interpretations of the Bible [yes, these were ALL intended for snake handling churches]

Those were your words (guess and bet). So you wrote them, but didn't mean to. You do that a lot.

The cover of the New Yorker was a piece of free form art. Art needs no explanation to convey its message. In this case it must have conveyed it all too well to require an apology in advance of publication. Just common sense. Doesn't have anything to do with whether I read the mag or not.

HA HA! Jayhawk, he owns your ass!

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I see where you went on the Guess and Bet. I was looking at the fantasy comment which made no sense which is why I said NO to the guessing. As for not meaning what I say "a lot". In your dreams skippy. Nice try.

Review has me changing that comment to the following.

I would be guessing since I don't know you personally but since I have read your near 750 posts I feel comfortable betting, so YES, I am, on this particular subject guessing and betting.

Better.

As for the Cover, NO, it was not a piece of free form art, it was tied to the satirical article in the magazine. Much like when magazines put photographs on the cover that tie to articles on the inside. Note in the future how often that actually occurs.

So the cover pic means what you say it means, and not what the folks who publish the magazine say it means? That's funny. Seriously, where do you come up with this stuff?

Let's see, sharpshooter. I didn't say it meant anything and you ask ME where I come up with this stuff? Take the meds and get a night's sleep.

You absolutely did. You said it is "was a piece of free form art", which is tantamount to suggesting that it is not associated with the accompanying article, regardless of what the magazine's publishers have stated. Did I miss something there?
