Here is another one, sun dried fish. I visited a fishing village here and the normal smell of a fishing village can be heavy enough on the nostrils but a whole half mile long street of dried sea food? Phew, My wife kept saying how does this smell, sticking a fish under my nose

The shops are so tightly packed that there is nowhere to puke without doing it down someones back

Got to the end of this street and managed to find a place to puke and my wife said, whats up hun tummy no OK, friggin sadist.

But latter in the day we went into a restaurant and they cooked the food she had bought and boy was it tasty. Dont let the smell put you off

Seriously stay away from the pickled fish, smells ok whilst pickled, but when cooked you will need a vacation on the happy farm yuk.

ERIC.

You can take your own food into a restaurant in China, and they cook it for you...??

I've used BYOG in Oz, but that is amazing...

Buy your own and have a restaurant cook it for you is normal in some places in china, but it aint any cheaper. The shops and the restaurants have a deal going so you, the customer, still end up paying the price.
