President Bush Birthday Wish: 'A world free from tyranny'...

President Bush has posted a message on a "wishing tree" at the G8 summit in Japan and, true to the aims of his second term in office, his main desire is for a world free from tyranny.

Hung in the branches of a black bamboo in Toyako on the northern island of Hokkaido, the Tanabata message is handwritten on a simple paper hanging with an embroidered border.

Mr Bush writes: "I wish for a world free from tyranny: the tyranny of hunger, disease; and free from tyrannical governments.

"I wish for a world in which the universal desire for liberty is realized...

FACE TO FACE WITH MEDVEDEV...

July 7 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said they will keep working jointly to block Iran's uranium enrichment efforts while indicating they made no progress on bridging differences over U.S. plans to deploy a missile defense system in Europe.

``While there are some areas of disagreement I know there are other areas where we can work together,'' Bush said following his meeting with the Russian leader at the Group of Eight industrial nations summit in Toyako, Japan.

Medvedev said he and Bush will ``build on the relationship'' between the two nations in the remaining months of the U.S. president's term...

What a shame he failed to address poverty here in his own country, to address hunger, to address disease, to address Darfur for seven years.

The death and disease he caused in Iraq over the past 5 years in both Shock and Awe and destruction of their infrastructure must have slipped his mind. The hunger of the children in Iraq who don't have home or parents who are hungry every night.

It is easy to put words on paper. His legacy has been formed by his acts. And his acts are the antithesis of his little wish.

Mr Cheney whispers:"Unless I decide it's in the interest of corporate imperialism to convince this dolt to bomb your ass into submission.
