I once got a ticket in nv for doing 83 in a semi. The officer was not happy.

Mercedes Benz, enough said.

Dang, that would add an 18 hour day to your trip. What would the fuel savings be for cruising at 55 instead of your current 2018/28=72MPH?

That's a good question, but the answer only messes with the demand side of the equation. We can not get ourselves out of this through reducing demand. Take the mph further: if 55 is good, 45 is better, why not 40?

The short range solution is drilling, refining and distribution of oil from OCS and ANWR. Medium range is oil shale, tar sands, clean coal and nuclear. Long term is full electrical from wind, hydrogen and nuclear.

According to the polls the enviro-wackos are on the wrong side of this.

If by short-range you mean "we will see production in 7-10 years and get a 7-10 year yield", then woohoo!!! What a business plan.

As for medium, great for POWER PLANTS, kinda clumsy for trucks and cars.

Anyway, it was the Republicans that brought this 55 thing up, not the Dems.

And as for the polls, I understand the polls that show that pump prices will not be dropping due to Offshore drilling, instead of that political obfuscating that is occurring show somewhat different results.
