Perhaps I'm still loopy from surgery, but I didn't see any of the commentary thus far as being an attack on Jody; certainly her boss is guilty of the type of unwitting brainwashing that Jim refers to, and the original author of the e-mail is a lying piece of shit - whoever they are.
I think it's fair to point these things out, and to challenge Jody (who brought it up to begin with) as to whether or not she A) believes this stuff, or B) has even attempted to disprove any of it. It wasn't until rather late in the thread, under fire, that she took the position that these views weren't hers, which can appear disingenuous - kind of like an "Oops, that's not what I meant" faux pas moment at a cocktail party.
People's credibility around here is a lot higher when they try to disprove their own beliefs prior to spouting them off. Jayhawk in particular could learn from this lesson, and I'm sure McBear would argue that I myself could learn from this lesson as well, at least as it applies to GCC (despite the fact much of my position there comes from trying to disprove a belief in GCC
- right, wrong, or otherwise). It's a good idea, because if you're genuinely unable to disprove your own belief or theory, your argument is that much stronger. You'd have to be a retard not to be able to do this via Google these days in about 2 minutes. A sound investment of one's time.
My two cents for the day. Now I'm broke.
