I also have a Vaio and like it but it's too nice to take on the truck. A repair guy told me that failure with the power jack is the number one problem and that the little pin in there snaps with the same amount of force that it takes to break a matchstick or less. Had that problem twice with the other Presario. He added that Apple has tried to circumvent this by using an electro-magnet system rather than the pin and post but that eventually the magnets wear out anyway.

i just helped my roommate purchase a brand new laptop from Dell. 160 GB HD, TFT Monitor, the works. For $500. 15" and all. It was a sweet by, in flat black. Its being sold at Wal-Mart. They give you 30 days to return which is good. I am using a 2 year old 17" Tashiba Satellite. I got that for free. The deal was, some one dropped it at my job. I took it home rebuilt it and they said I could keep it since I took the time to fix it.

My wireless router is in the basement on the other side of the house and I'm outside on the deck getting the strongest signal I've ever had out here. Also I've been plugging away for almost an hour and the battery still has over 3/4 life.

Wow, I'd seriously consider that unit if it could be configured with XP, rather than Vista

And what stops you? Anything that can be configured with Vista can be configured with XP, at least for now.

All you need is a legal copy of XP.
