Actually I use a deicer which is basically a larger version of a trough deicer for livestock. GS is right. At the most, we get about 2 inches of ice and the fish hibernate on the bottom. The reason for the deicer is to let gasses from decaying matter to escape. It only opens a foot wide hole but that is sufficient.

Shit I could never have a rose garden or one of those ponds.... all the rose bushs would be dead from lack of water/attention and in the pond everything would be belly up cause I would negelect to feed em.......
