How about Seattle?
Flat maps of the globe can be quite misleading. I was surprised when the airplanes from San Francisco to Frankfurt flew over Vancouver. It all become clear once I got the globe.

Toss some ice cubes in the air filter and will save you some gas.

If you go up I-5 jump off on Panoche Rd. There is a gut-truck on the east side of the freeway. Quick Taco lunch for about $6.00. And you can visit with the truckers.

There is a truck stop on hwy33/hwy152, you might need a rest-stop after the taco's.

Left at 8am and no traffic problems. did the Hoover Dam on the way (kinda on the way) and was a decent drive.

I've just finished doing the Vegas to SF leg and it was a breeze, 10 hours with a couple of meal breaks. Managed to find a turn off from the freeway that totally screwed up the satnav as it went in a circle and it kept trying make me do the same ramp over and over. If I had listened to the Garmin I'd be still be there!!

There are quite a few members in and around L.A., but the City of Angels is more enjoyable out of a car.
You share the first name with one of car racings all time greats, Tazio Nuvolari.
A guy who finished a GP steering his car with a wrench.

True. The greatest of them all in terms of guts and determination. Would have been even more famous if it wasn't for that pesky WWII getting in the way.
