Bush's new Immigration Strategery.

You just have to wonder why it took Bushie so long to fish out a clue that the Federal Government was hiring so many of our undocumented aliens and that, as chief law enforcer, he is "suppose" to be agin it. But Seven Years and Five Months later, Bushie finally pulled out his crayons and put together the start of an Immigration policy.

Some will love it, some will hate it but at least it is no longer "head in the sand, head up the ass" policy.

One would have thought this mechanism might have been implemented somehow before now. Glad no terrorists could be working any government contracts.

Bush orders contractors to check legal status of employees

By SUZANNE GAMBOA
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush has signed an executive order requiring contractors and others who do business with the federal government to make sure their employees can legally work in the U.S.

Bush signed the order Friday and the White House announced the order Monday.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez planned an afternoon news conference to discuss the order and other ways the administration has stepped up its crackdown on illegal immigration.

The order says federal departments and agencies must require contractors to use an electronic system to verify that the workers are eligible to work in the U.S.

The order is aimed at cracking down on hiring of illegal immigrants. But people who overstayed visas or came to the country legally but do not have permission to work, such as some students or those awaiting work permits, also could be snagged with the system.

"It is the policy of the executive branch to enforce fully the immigration laws of the United States, including the detection and removal of illegal aliens and the imposition of legal sanctions against employers that hire illegal aliens," in the executive order says.

The order comes as a worker verification bill has essentially stalled in Congress. A Democratic immigration enforcement bill would require employers to check the citizenship and legal status of all their employees.

The issue has long been debated but has run into opposition over the years from business groups who say the E-Verify system is flawed and civil libertarians who say it will lead to discrimination and job losses by U.S. citizen workers misidentified as illegal workers.

Comprehensive immigration bills considered by Congress in 2006 and 2007 included worker verification measures. But after they failed, states began passing their own laws to keep employers from hiring undocumented workers.

I have to doubt the sincerity of his move on this one.

He is running out of options to leaving a legacy of his Presidency. He fucks up so bad on foreign policies even the Saudi ditched us for the Chinese. As for domestic policies, he is running out of time to turn the economy around, so is unemployment. Immigration issue is a low hanging fruit. But if anyone recalls, this is the same bullshit of the Immigration Reform Acts of 1986 which failed misery that leads to the Immigration Reform now. Bush is in essence copying what Reagan did. No more no less (well, that explains his lack of originality too). He can outline anything he wants, but enforcing the new strategy is a completely different story.

The bulk of the illegals are still employed by private industries, not Government Contractors. So how does this move is going to make things better? This is another Geoge fucking Walker Bush fuck up.

We need to show more sympathy for these people.

* They travel miles in the heat.
* They risk their lives crossing a border.
* They don't get paid enough wages.
* They do jobs that others won't do or are afraid to do.
* They live in crowded conditions among a people who speak a different language.
* They rarely see their families and they face adversity all day every day

Yes but we can replace them with all of the inmates our country has accumulated. Some of them right now live better than most Americans.
Slave labor? Yeah
Ethical? I don't care
Will it solve the illegal immigration problem? partially
Will it make us more productive and competitive? Yes

That one. Court Appointed Special Advocates. It is a program for helping kids whose parents and their kids are sucked into the legal system. The program provides a court advocate that insures the best interest of the child is considered in any proceedings.

It also has become an advocacy for children in the legislative arena making sure that the interests of kids are well represented and protected from unintended consequence.

It has very good Senatorial support from Biden [D] and Grassley [R].

You seem surprised that Bushie would ignore established law for political expediency and of course...fundraising.
