WTF, you ignorant racist schmuck. Is this the tolerance of others you teach your kids? Do you have a problem with all white people or just rich ones who breed and race horses? These horses you are talking about get treated better than most peoples kids. Private trainers and groomers, they get the best of everything. They don't get beat around the track daily, These are expensive animals to buy and upkeep so if you have the luxury to own such an beautiful animal you tend to treat it very well. They have a career life about as long as an NFL linebacker. Then they retire to beautiful pastures and private stalls on luxury horse farms. Sounds like a good life to me for a few rounds of the track.

I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way.

There are 27 owners of the syndicate for that horse. Steve Roberts is the one I know.

Kassem owns the farm.

Edit: You will also find that Tubby Smith is an owner of the horse in question.

I admit that I typed 2000 pounds for the weight of a horse. That is all. The weight is not germane to the conversation.

You only keep bringing it up to divert your inability to keep up.

But I do like the fact that you are actually looking things up and trying. It shows effort. Funny effort for the oddest things but effort nonetheless.

But I do believe you might have found out by now that horse racing is not a "rich white man's sport" as you so naively thought.

By the way, it's Pray, tell. not prey-tell.

Prey is the hunted of a predator.

Kentucky Derby Horse Killed in Front of Thousands

Posted at 10:11 AM | Permalink | CommentsComments (586)

With the shock of Barbaro's death after the 2006 Preakness still fresh in their minds, the Kentucky Derby crowd saw for themselves the sordid truth about what racing means for the horses involved last night, as the filly Eight Belles was killed after collapsing on the track.

This young filly's death may have been humane, but the race sure wasn't. PETA is calling for the immediate suspension of jockey Gabriel Saez—who whipped Eight Belles mercilessly as she came down the final stretch, no doubt in agony from two front legs that were about to snap.

While the trainers, jockeys, and owners may weep their crocodile tears today over Eight Belles' euthanasia, they will be back on the track tomorrow, putting other horses at risk. Thoroughbreds are raced on hard dirt surfaces—like the one at Churchill Downs. Their bones simply can't take it, as Eight Belles' two broken front legs showed last night. Despite the wealth associated with thoroughbred racing, for the horses—most of whom end up broken, cast off, or sent to Europe to be killed for the dinner table—it's a dirty business and no better than dogfighting.

Actually horsefarm ownership [and subsequent horse ownership] is right now weighted in the Dubai and UAE area. We also have several Japanese and Chinese owners as well as German, French, Polish and Irish. And then of course there are the traditional families that have owned for the past 150 years.

But it it truly international. At one point during the September 2001 Keeneland Sales there were planes lined up from nearly everywhere. Both of the Crown Princes of Dubai Maktoum al Maktoum and his brother had their 747s parked on the tarmac near Queen Elizabeth's BAE146.

I was there, the story is incorrect and intended to inflame not inform. But that is what PETA does. Uninformed sensationalism.
