And this is coming from someone who has made a bunch of money in the broadcast media industry - I should be one of their cheerleaders.

That ability to flip on the mike and talk, as opposed to write an article, read it, revise it, have an editor review it and then submit it to print is the equivalent of "measure twice, cut once".

But I understand the need to burn time during a commute. I seldom use AM/FM on my radio. It is either XM or iPod only.
How do you rate blogs in that scenario? I find them to be just a written form of talk radio.

I am not much of a fan of blogs. I have several friends who have some pretty successful ones but I agree that many are done from the confines of a singular point of view, without editorial or perspective restraint.

I tend to either like the more formal writings of traditional magazine/newspaper journalism which goes through a process OR the free for all sandbox where it is the 21 Century equivalent of Smoking Room conversation [without the flying chess pieces].

In the second group, BWOT is the calmest of the three I hang around. Zoomies [the group of Air Force Officers] is the more serious and sometimes contentious and Fark.com is the more rowdy but the conversations seldom last for over four hours [although there might be 3000 comments in that period of time so you have to be very quick]. The AF group is 60/40 conservative/liberal with more stars usually being more conservative. The Total Fark group is blisteringly fast with a more youthful cut and about 50/50 bias. Folks who don't think before typing are absolutely steamrollered and don't last.

Just because it is on a printed page does not make it true. Just because some person can get on the airwaves does not make valid.

I read four or five real newspapers a day plus a half dozen or more online papers and blogs, and watch all the cable news programs starting at 5:00a every day. But I get most of my best stuff from my barber!

There is the difference. I only see my barber four times a year and she and I DON'T talk politics.

Only thing that really keeps them honest in the printed papers is the original chain of proofing which starts at the reporter and moves through the editor and then the consumer side which tends to place a higher standard on newspapers and magazines to PRINT truth.

So seldom would you see/hear a retraction from a TV or radio broadcast as it lacks the permanence of print. Yet readers demand a level of credibility from print that seems to provide a second level of editors to insure that everyone has "checked their work".

With radio and TV, once it is said, it is gone, morphed to the next version and spun to suggest what was really, REALLY meant by the nuance of the spoken, accented word.

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and that’s what I intend to reverse.

You've been lying about the Caddys all along, haven't you? If Duke and Salvador are fabrications, I'll start a new Frapper thread EVERY day. I swear.
