No, absolutely not.
It would be so much better if we lived in a world where grandma starved in the streets. The reason it happened is because the economic system in this country simply did not work.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

FDR's socialist program, Social (in)security is a miserable failure, a millstone around the neck of every working class citizen. Granted, it would have been 'better' had your liberal hack, LBJ, not began looting the fund and writing IOU's. That tradition has continued, unchecked, throughout every presidency since. What will be your solution, when in 2032, grandma is again starving in the street because these politicians you hold so dear, couldn't keep their filthy little money grubbing hands off the trust fund?

Give Grandma Weimar Dollars, of course.

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and that’s what I intend to reverse.

Both alarming and disheartening, isn't it?

^ So is the power of stupidity, as embodied by one John "They'll Always Be Gooks" McCain.

I regret that I allowed my cynicism to distort my judgement, and interfere with me going with my gut.

We should start a fresh poll after the GOP convention concludes, unless of course, god attacks NOLA with another hurricane next week.

...at which point, we'll see, no doubt, pictures of Senators Obama and Biden, stacking sandbags atop levees juxtaposed against balloons falling from the ceiling of the X.

So maybe there is something to this "Divine Intervention" after all.

Would it be too much to hope for "Happy days are here again!" to be playing in the background of the convention during that well set up juxtaposition?
