The last solo that really grabbed my attention and impressed me with its flow and intensity was Thorazine Shuffle by Gov't Mule.

Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" belongs on that list. Some of the riffs he lists cannot be denied, but the ones he selects over the last 25 years are the most commercially successful riffs for the artist, not the best riffs. As much as I love "Crazy Train", Randy Rhoads' masterpiece riff was "Mr. Crowley". And "Enter Sandman"? Come on, Hetfield wrote riffs that blow that one away - "Master of Puppets" immediately comes to mind, but if they had to pick something off the commercially successful "Black" album, then it had to be "Sad But True", which was so cool that Kid Rock copped the whole song. And "Another One Bites The Dust"?!? It's a fucking bass riff! Brian May has a half dozen brilliant riffs that could have been used.

TK, for the Crue, I gotta go with this one: YouTube - motley crue - looks that kill

Whenever I think Crue, that's the riff I hear.

I was about to just fucking freak out on this asswipe's list, until I realized the term "riff" is probably subject to wildly different interpretations from one non-player to another.
