That looks like a trial balloon. If it had weight, it would have been used in the last four or so years as a "real" reason.

The logic doesn't hold water. Iraq was not after Israel on any fundamental level. If Bush had been wanting to start a war to 1) stop WMD, 2) remove an UNstable government in the region and 3) protect Israel he would have chosen IRAN. But as many have said, he just missed it by one letter.

The good news is that now we simply cannot afford any more wars.

Even the ones we are mired in right now are being financed with borrowed money.

"Why did we go to Iraq?"

Which of the 26 different reasons that Bush and Co. came up with you want me to quote?

Note: The real reason is not among them.

I don't know what your thought is p100, but I read through this entire thread and no one touched directly upon what I believe to be the real reason: oil lobbyists. I would like to see/trace contributions to junior's bank accounts/campaign fund/offshore holdings. I'm not looking it up, but if I remember correctly Saddam was threatening the Saudis - something about military exercises near the border, etc.
I think OPEC had their hands in it and when the chips were down they told Cheney that they were calling in the return favor and he needed to do something about Saddam. So he did.
