Kids grow up. When I was a child I played with childrens things. Now I am a man and put aside those childish things.
Been there, done that. Got the bath. Not there now. Why not?
Many, myself included are part of that same experience. But the rise of the Christian conservative movement in the last two decades of the 20th Century is much different than when we were kids in the 50s and 60s. Different kool-aide.
Many will go on to grow out of the indoctrination, lead normal, sane lives. Others, many who have been cloistered by home schooling or fundamentalist Christian schools do not appear to be so lucky.
And these young adults are here in the land of plenty, subject to every possible diversion, ability to glean diverse information and draw their own opinion.
Now, move that same fundamentalist indoctrination of children to a society where nearly every facet of life is controlled [say Afghanistan in the 80's and 90s under the Taliban] and free will evaporates as it relates to religious mores.
