The professor is going to have difficult time explaining how one, after obtaining a valid IP to sign on to the net, can then send a false IP from that connection and receive back a web page. Even if the evil IP is valid, it requires a complete, separate connection to the net, that uses that IP, and it has to be obtained validly as well, but this is nothing more than re-routing an IP, so is not a "spoof". The only possible way to do it, is to release the IP address for the connection, and then renew it with the evil address, before the returned web page began arriving at your computer. One would have to do this every time one wanted a web page. The timing issues, the provider issues, among others make this an impossible idea, certainly impossible for getting around an IP ban on a forum, if not just plain dumb. Any TCPIP connection only has one address. You simply cannot give a single connection an alternate or momentary change of address on a dedicated IP - it requires ending the connection. Of course, this is only my "superficial" understanding.
Actually I have done that and I didn't want to talk about it and still wont
Oh, I did it from a static IP while in session with BW.. Germanstar must have known about it I don't know how but he figured me out.
But it was not a spoof, so KV was right on that point

My point was that it is impossible to communicate directly from one computer to another, and have the other computer recieve a false IP address as the origin point - reporting a false IP always requires a proxy in the chain, and even that has a hard time being considered 'false", since the receiver is truly receiving his webpage from that proxy address. Interestingly enough, it caused a great deal of discussion at work, leading me to directly challenge the entire software industry in Houston to do it, on a bet of $1,000.00. Three years later, still no takers, and all I know have pretty much agreed with my point that the logical structure of TCP/IP itself makes it impossible. The only way to come close to doing it is to plant some kind of virus on the receiver that changes logs after the fact. There is no way to program my machine to fool any machine I connect to to think it recieved it from any other address than the one that was currently in use by the originator machine. It is why all Internet communication is ultimately traceable. You never did admit I was right about this. You earned my bombast because you stated in the prior post that I did not have more than a "superficial" understanding of TCP/IP, which I found curious given that you were proposing an impossibility. The idea that an IP can become truly untraceable is simply false - real hackers know this, and use public libraries, third-world country proxies, etc to make connections that cannot be directly traced to them, there is no way to program it as a universal attribute to a stand alone machine.

As I recall, he requested that his old moniker be removed/banned. After a hiatus, he returned under a different moniker. He is certainly not the only one here to have a history of posting under more than one moniker, although having more than one active moniker is a violation of BW TOU.

He's using a false connection based on the session layer's protocol making BW believe that it's another log in with a different IP after planting a patch in the BW session management process. A simple SQL injection was sufficient to modify the flags needed by the session engine to accept his particular connection. If you piss him off any further, he may modify your account so your avatar will change to this

And all this time I thought it was because of the decapitated horse's head I had put in your bed. And I paid good money for that, too.

I think I said that in simpler terms above. I never change avatars, planting "kiddie porn" is so much more effevtive, just ask the "Cap''n" when he gets out of Joliet.
