You keeping asserting that, like you found some big secret. So why don't you come out of the closet and put some numbers out for us to pick at? Or maybe it's just rhetoric without numbers.
Being coy is not your forte. I think that you fear a rational discussion of your secret finding about taxes.
OK, Look at this year's Federal Budget. $3.1 Trillion. Of that money $600 Billion [that's 20% for the Math Impaired] is used to pay INTEREST on the NATIONAL DEBT. 92% of the National DEBT was run up by Reagan, Bush1, bushie. So, without going any further into Federal excise taxes [things like the 15 gas tax increases during RBB] yes, there were 3 during Clinton, Communications Taxes, FAA fees [Reagan's ATC fee and Bushie's 9/11 Security Fee] you can look at 20% of ALL your tax dollars are padded with RBB overbudget, excess spending. Note that over 50% is from Bushie who had a Republican Congress AND President.
Now lets look at Reagan's actual legislative tax increases [instead of just the charge card increases].
Reagan's first tax increase was in 1982 once he realized his 1981 cuts were a bit optimistic. As a share of GDP, the increase was greater than Clinton's 1993 tax increase.
Reagan's second tax increase was the Social Security Reform Act of 1983. Its key provision was an increase in the payroll tax that pays for Social Security and Medicare hospital insurance.
Now, how about GHW "No new taxes" Bush1"...Now this is a good one. 1990. Besides adding new Medicare taxes, gas taxes, Air Transportation taxes, Telecom excise taxes and a shiny new 31% tax rate, Bush1 added a nice little 5% increase in taxes to everyone's life. Oh, AND a Quarter Tril debt.
Is that coy enough? Just how far would you like for me to list [most of which I have posted before]. This took all of 12 minutes to pull together. I am REAL good at this.
