Should Obama get the Dem nod I fully anticipate a Swiftboating campaign which, much like Bushie, McCain will fully deny any culpability. And I do believe it will be racially charged which is mindnumbing to me in the 21st Century in this country.
But the question is, does McCain have the ability [or desire] to rein in his supporters and stop it? Bush did not as Rove was running that campaign and it was, much like Iraq, Stay the Course, Win at ALL Costs. That is how "brown baby" surfaced, that is how Swiftboater surfaced. Very well organized, well funded "independents" conveniently arms length from the RNC and campaign.
Hey that is exactly what this "Destroyer" clown is doing. Among Democrats, the issues between the two candidates are these:
1#: Clinton's vote for the war in Iraq
2#: Obama's voluntary healthcare system vs Clinton's mandatory healthcare system
3#: "BUSH CLINTON BUSH CLINTON"
4#: Obama's position that the lobbyist's power must be totally broken vs Clinton's DLC position that Democrats coddle their own set of lobbyists.
Limbaugh "chaos" Republican toads do not discuss any of this issues simply because they don't even know these discussions are going on. They want to portray the discussions as "racist Clinton Democrats vs The Crazy Unpatriotic Nigger", which is essentially using the same discussion points being used by Right Wing Hate Radio. If the guy had come here to discuss those four issues above, he would have been respected and debated. Too bad, I would have liked to have seen them discussed with a real Democrat who advocated those positions. Those debates have been healthy for the Democratic Party and have resulted in one million new Democratic voters. For this scum bag to come here and shit on that is an outrage, and of course, who is supporting him? Our own Swiftboat Crowd here at BWOT.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
