They were really state of the art for 1957. Truly stunning machines, the compleat car; I belive the original ones, even came with their own kleenex tissue holders, perfume bottles with holders and flower vases too.
If the diabolically complicated air suspension works well, and it's otherwise in good shape, it could be the true centerpiece of your Cadillac collection.
Cadillac was truly the "Standard of the World" back then and this model, had very low production numbers, and I think it sold for about $13,000 back then, a fortune then, but it was arguably the pinnacle and apex of Cadillacs of the 1950s, this was as good as it got.
So yes, I would buy it. Anyone who loves Cadillacs knows what a prize these are. They are basically show cars now. Real crowd pleasers too.
You sound like the type of person who really loves older Cadillacs and may have the wherewithal and appreciation for them, to make owning one of these a good thing to do. So, maybe you should go ahead and get it.
I have one like that myself, but mine is only a well detailed 1/24" Franklin Mint model of it in wonderful shape.
cascade loves Cadillacs.
