Now that is just good comedy writing, there.

Now you might want to try facts. See who drives what.

Trade Deficit as an example is driven by Labor and the Administration, not Congress.

Bear-Sterns, that was brought to you by the kids at the SEC, Commerce and the FED who failed to enforce their own rules [Free trade, let the market rule, etc].

Continued Iraq War, well, parameters are starting to be set which is a start and an improvement and funding was limited so Checks and Balances are starting to work.

National Debt, well, kids we are still on the 2007 budget numbers, actually pared down percentage wise but there is still those Executive Orders and Pentagon Expenditures that jack up the bill, out of the hands of Congress.

But we do have Checks and Balances. And YES, we do want four more years of that.

You forgot pissing off the rightwing. That is what we enjoy the most. Tagging the Mighty28 and showing the list of errors on a daily basis. It is fun.

But the biggest error is going to be gone January 20, 2009

I don't think bottomline is blaming those problems on Dems as much as he is suggesting that they have done little to nothing to curtail them -- and he's right. Still better than the 6 years prior, though...

Well, now I am confused about your position. As I recalll, things weren't exactly peach-keen when Bush came into office (remember the recession?). So if you are going to give the Dems a pass for six years of Bush, for the sake of consistency, wouldn't you also give Bush some years for the Clinton mess. You see where this goes? And why it's so useless?

On or about Feb, '09 we will hear, if a Dem is elected, "Gee, we just had no idea how bad it was until we got in here and took over. It will take far longer to extract the troops than we thought, and the budget is so tight that in order to pass our (health, GCC, enviromental, education, fill in the blank, initiatives) we will have to pass a very uncomfortable but necessary tax increase."

Bottom,
You still don't get it, right? What you are doing is a dead cat bounce.

I can give a rat's ass what Billy Bob Clinton did or didn't do. The fact is, when your Boy George walked into 1600 Penn Ave; this nation was not trillions of dollars in debt, gas price was not $4.10/gallon, we were not in trade deficit, we were respected throughout the world, dollar worthed something, the country was not deeply divided, your Constitutional Rights were not violated, there was no Vietnam Part II, jobs were not leaving this country like the diarrhea of your mouth, and there was a thing called "middle class".

It is dumb ass people like you help pawn away this great nation, and you are proud of it. Now go jump off the cliff and die in shame.

He fights scumbag fascists like you.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I agree they have not done enough. Hard to fight a veto pen when you don't have a supermajority. But I think the Checks and Balances have been working well.
  • Earmarks finally have some accountability attached to them.
  • War spending is finally down, though ZERO would be much better
  • Congressional hearings into the Credit Crisis [Bear Stearns] are starting now to slam that door shut against future stupidity. Regulators will finally have to do their jobs. That accountability thing again.
Next steps are to set Cabinet level policy that can address IRAQ, Trade Deficits, NAFTA, DoJ issues, Regulating Banks, Mine Safety, Immigration and Offshoring. Those belongs to the Executive.
