It is official this thread is about to get hijacked.
1ST. There is no argument for religion. Regardless of what anyone says God or religion cannot be argued as fact. Fact is the anti religion. Most religions are Faith based. I am a Lutheran, originally derived from the catholic church until Martin Luther nailed the 95 thesis to the church door disputing several problems he saw with the teachings of a very corrupt church leadership at the time. The church split and over the years different churches have developed there own interpretations of the Bible and developed into different branches. The basis for religion is a belief in something you cannot see. A higher power that watches over us. All religions have a entity that guides them through life, giving them moral guide lines and a meaning in life. I believe God created the earth and everything in it. I believe that the Bible is the true word of God, and that his son Jesus died on the cross to save me from my sins. Without that belief I believe those who are not baptized and who do not know Jesus as their savior are going to spend eternal life in hell. Ancient documents such as the dead sea scrolls are things that people can look at to support there beliefs. The Vatican I believe has a cloth that they think held the body of Jesus after he was Crucified. These are all things that people try to prove religion but ultimately you cannot. That is the point. If God appeared in front of you of course you would believe, it is faith that God created you and has saved you that will get you into heaven. One way to validate Religion is to examine our existence through science, Prove to me scientifically how the planet was created with out a doubt. then recreate it.
I cannot prove to you that there is a God Unfortunately, I can only pray that you find him.

"Without that belief I believe those who are not baptized and who do not know Jesus as their savior are going to spend eternal life in hell".

You've got me worried now for all the billions of people born before Jesus was and all those born since and those who will be born who are not lucky enough to be born of Christian parents. Did God make hell that much larger than heaven so that it can accomodate this disparity of numbers? I guess the Chinese and Indian sections of hell must be huge. Perhaps that's why they like spicey food- to sort of get them ready?

Don't you believe that it is a miracle that an ex-Nazi became Pope?

What are you talking about? A study in Nature by Larson and Witham in 1998 showed that over 90% of the American people believed in a supernatural being of some sort. And I don't think they were referring to George W.

Talking about the shrub, Shortlist this morning had a Boris V Arnie on issues that matter, Bojo quote was "The president is a cross-eyed Texan warmonger, unelected and inarticulate, who epitomises the arrogance of American foreign policy", and Arnold quote was "I backed him and got no sex for 14 days"
Btw dope MCN has a fine Kettle in the making this week.
