You are a riot. You uphold the beliefs of a known racist, assert he isn't one and then call me one. I'd vote for Colin Powell in a second. I would never consider voting for Obama. Nuff said.
Yeah. Colin Powell. You'd vote for him! How convenient. He isn't running. A great card to play to display your openness to a black guy being President, though, since he meets your qualifications - he was Bush and Cheney's butt boy in the run up to invading Iraq.
Powell was so diminished by his lack of backbone in the run up to his UN presentation on Iraq, there is no way he could convince anyone he is seriously a qualified candidate for the Presidency. I used to think quite highly of him. Not any more. Just a regular guy who was over his head once he left the Army - used his chain of command training to justify making some big mistakes and then realized he had been had - that military code of honor just doesn't have a place in the Bush administration, which he found out the hard way.
And Wright is only known racist to those who require no proof. He is a loudmouthed black preacher. That's enough, right?
I'm not running for president, Jim. I owe you nothing of any explanation any more than you owe me one. But, Obama is running for president and he owes it to the American people to be candid about his true beliefs. He is not being candid.
That is your opinion. I think he is more candid than any other candidate in a generation. You believe he is evil because he is part black, just admit it. You have no other evidence, you just don't believe him.
If America is a subject of disappointment to you and has been since the Vietnam war, why don't you go to live elsewhere. There are many places that would espouse your general dislike for this country. And it's obvious that you're not influential enough to make a change that is acceptable to you.
I love America. I am hurt by how the average American takes America for granted. I am hurt by how little the average American is willing to give back to his country in exchange for the benefits that come from being brought up as an American. I am hurt by how little our Constitution and our freedoms and the relationship the founding fathers set up between the people and the government of the United States of America is considered in the daily decision making. It is all taken for granted. And it can all disappear in a flash because of that complacency. You didn't pick up on the context of my statements. I have experienced few instances in my lifetime of being outwardly proud of America, to point of citing a particular instance of actions by Americans that I think rises to the examples set by my parents, their parents and those who were part of the early American experiment that has thrived.
Not too long before my time there was WWII and what America did in its aftermath was something to be proud of - no other nation in our planet's history did anything quite so grand after vanquishing a people like the Germans or the Japanese. The Berlin Airlift was another example. But all before I was either born or aware of what the hell was going on.
Since then, I confess, not much has been truly impressive. And as of late, I am ashamed of my government. Iraq. Afghanistan (we are really not making progress there either). Belittling UN weapons inspectors. Freedom Fries. Terry Schiavo. Katrina. The "Patriot Act" and Homeland Security. Illegal aliens. The list goes on. And on. Which of those are you proud of? People making up reasons to justify their distrust of a candidate because he black. Suggesting his wife hates America. Suggesting he therefore must hate America. The reweaving of America's view of America in a more Nazi brand of cloth.
As for Obama's wife, it's plain and simple. She's only proud, now, because she sees her husband has a legitimate shot at being the next president. She shares a general hatred for this country along with many more politicians in her own party. One has to love their country and be proud of their country in order to affect positive change. No one says you cannot be disappointed in your country
I see you know Mrs. Obama quite well. She shares a hatred of America. Ok, Himmler.
Sieg Heil, and don't you forget it.
You make an assumption that I'm proud of W based on no facts whatsoever. I can agree he's more or less, a general failure, as a president. But you think the answer is elect another who will most likely be just as much a failure. Not that we really have a choice, given the three options.
No, I suggested your bullshit meter is only sensitive when it is aimed at someone you heard was a "liberal" and it is really sensitive if that "liberal" also happens to have dark skin. In that case everything he says is interpreted as bullshit.
How about linking us racist, ignorant fools up with a complete sermon. I want to hear the one, in entirety, where he refers to 'goddamn america'.
I will see what I can do, but you will have to read since I have not got any video links. I doubt that is within the range of effort you are willing to expend to get a fair and balanced view. Hell, a 35 minute sermon might be more than you would watch on video. Edit: Here is a larger excerpt for two of the now famous sound bites:
Lonnee Hamilton: Placing Reverend Wright's Sermons In Context - Off The Bus on The Huffington Post
That's, perhaps, one of the most clueless statements you have made, thus far. But, yet, you call me a racist because I question his agenda. That's typical.
You must have this quote:

out of line with your retorts. Where in there did I call you a racist?
Why is it difficult for you to understand that issues that can be dealt with are the issues that should be addressed. Explain to me why you think digging up the past is a constructive way to deal with today's issues?
Symptoms vs. diseases.
I'm sure if these sermons you refer to, exist, you wouldn't mind posting a link to them. I clearly heard the so called Rev. Wright blaming AIDS and drug addiction on the U.S. government and whitey. Explain that away instead of trying to glaze over it. It's ludicrous, Jim!
No, the AIDS rumor falls in the same category as the US government blowing the World Trade Center up, and the Pentagon was hit by a US missile, not an airplane. The Reverend got off the beaten path there.
I will see if I can find a link to the actual whole sermons some of the "offensive" excerpts came from - but what is the likelihood you are going to read a several page document? Shit, you already made it clear. He is a loudmouthed black preacher who hates America. What could be worse?
I made it clear I believe Obama will pursue Wright's agenda, because he so secretly embraces it. Go ahead and elect him. His character he fights so much to keep hidden will even become apparent to you.
Hmmmn. He secretly embraces it, yet you know all about this secret embrace? Sounds an awful lot like convenient speculation for you.
I'm listening fine. It's you who appears to have his head buried on the darkside.
So, GW ran on a platform of no nation building, etc. He lied. Was it obvious? No. But, Obama's BS insults the intelligence of most people. He is already a proven liar. You can't get past it because you are so blinded with the visions he offers you. He speaks with a forked tongue. So, it's you who isn't paying attention. You need to really find out who Obama really is. You don't even have a clue. You so readily throw the race card around, referring to those who oppose Obama as racists. Why? It's simple. I dared to oppose a black man. Not because he's black but because of his stance and beliefs.
No, you opposed a black man on overblown bullshit that is meaningless. Lapel pins, for Christ's sake. You can't be bothered to find out anything about the man from other than Faux News. Yet you know his secret agenda, his hidden character, and won't vote for him not because he is black, but because you know all this secret, hidden shit. Yeah, that's the ticket. If he were only white it would be harder to hide that agenda and character - it is his dark skin that you have to be specially trained, or perhaps gifted to read what is written below the surface of, you know, his inner self, true character and therein you can see his true agenda to pork whitey. And you have that talent, right?
