Like I said, Obama is not Wright, Wright is not Obama, and I see no valid connection from however anyone justifies condemning Wright's message without parsing it into lines of logic and finding faults in those lines, and then attributing their essentially unjustified negative or in some cases extremely negative assessment of Wright directly to Obama. The only way that is easy is if none of the details makes any difference - it is the color of the skin of the two men, so the same evil sounding shit must lurk beneath that dark skin. And I think there is more to that logic than the lapel pin and wife's quote being "just another data point" to pile on.
You are right they are not the same people. In no way to I believe the Wackadoo Wright is controlling Obama.
On the other hand there is an old saying that a man is judged by the company he keeps.
If Obama had known Wright for only a couple of years it would be different. But this has been a 20 year friendship from a man who married Obama and his wife, who baptized their children, and who was the inspiration for Obama's book and provided the title.
Then Obama wants to come out and make statements like "I never heard him say devisive things, I have never heard these messages. I can no more "kick reverend Wright to the curb than I can choose my color".
Bullshit. You aren't around someone for 20 years and do not hear this kind of crap.
We are constantly told how if we hear an offensive joke to one race or another we should stand up and be accounted for how we responded - did we stop the person, did we walk away, did we laugh, etc.
This is no different. Obama is being held accountable (at least a little) for his actions or inactions.
I have always stated that Obama is way to liberal for me and off the top of my head I can't think of a single policy statement of his I agree with. Oh, I am sure there are things we would agree on but not enough to make me want the man to be our president. I do not agree with his tax policy, I do not agree with the nationalization of healthcare, etc.
I also don't agree with what his wife said, his actions or inactions around Wright, his lapel pin (or lack of), etc. These are much smaller data points but if I was on the fence between him and another candidate they could very well tilt the balance away from Obama. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with that. It all speaks to his character and values.
