LoL Seen it, squatted there with my bright orange plastic bowl with rats nipping past our feet like rush hour on the M25, but it still beats the hell out of jungle grub, you must remember the days when the food was of more concern than flying rounds ? .
Flying rounds can be a bit of a pain in the neck, but I must have me good food. Fuck popeye and his spinach give me steak anytime. Army food was great for your sex life as long as the tea did not have bromide in it.

Thinking of the Army, one thing I do miss was christmas morning when the Senoir NCOs and the officers had to serve us tea in bed, laced with Rum. It always started the day well. When I reached the dizzy heights of Sergeant and had to serve the tea, I drank a cup with each guy I served and boy was that a christmas starter. Had to let the wife cut the Turkey as I could not see the bitch, Turkey I mean

OH and one last thing when it comes to army food, composition rations, you cannot beat a sandwich made with cheese and jam

ERIC.

Here
dont tell anyone
but I thought the 24 HR rations were excellent
Especially the "biscuits brown AB"
scrumptious
Theres a hungery farmers son for you
Cant remember the A,B,C,D or E,? compositions but there was one menu really sought after, needless to say little of that particular "specification" ever found its way out to the foot soldiers.
Most of the rotten B---- of my fellow TA soldiers dumped all there uneaten ration in the garbage.
This despite the local Cadets who were mad keen for these rations, they having to buy them from the Scout Shop, at rediculious prices.

Shit
I really meant to reply that most cows I have seen are possessed of
"a fanny like a fucked out Friesan"
being the local equivalent of
"a fanny like a busted sofa"
So would the cows even notice unless he was hung like a black jack donkey
Just a thought

Well, as we seem to have sucessfully ambushed this thread with military talk:
When I reached the dizzy heights of servant (sergeant) and joined HQ 3rd Armoured Division, when on exercise they put up a mess tent with tables. YES tables and no mess tins, real plates with cutlery and service as well. Bread and, wait for it, BUTTER yes real butter, shit I wanted compo rations and felt out of place

So a case of
"I say chaps stop the battle it's teatime"
To waffle once more
Whilst out on Recce looking for OP sites in Germany, I directed my trusty driver ( excellent guy actually ) to "turn right here and go up the track"
He said not entirely unreasonably
"Sir I dinny see ony track" or words to that effect
On closer examination a clear line of thinner saplings could be diserned which agreed with the track as marked on my map.
After a few "are you sure sur's" and "it will wreck the antenna" etc etc
We sallied forth
well actually crept up the hill very very slowely, but entirely successfully.
To come out into a clearing on the top
At the rear of a very high spec / "top secret" communications set up belonging to the AMERICANS.
It was certainly impressive looking to me,
Kenny however knew a lot more about the comms side than I EVER did.
And said things like "some serious shit here" and other technical speak
So anyway we pottered along in our wee landrover ( an air portable model since you did not ask) Not a soul to be seen, we had a good gander around
and finally about a 1/2 mile later came to a manned security barrier.
With the guy facing outwards
Which guy, when he realized we were there, opened with a slightely puzzled look on his face
As in
"I dont remember them coming in"
Quite priceless

^Well shiznit golly there good pardner, you gots to be speakin' some furrin' language that ain't recognizin' totally by da Fair English treaty of 1901. Ya know, back in the da day we didn't need to learn to speak at all. That is what we had six shooters slip tied to da hip for. Funniest thing was all the meestakes make that would make a man walk funny fer da rest of his life. Still it was better than erasin' the possiblitiy of not furtherin' yer seed. Ha.
