^Well... I suggest a '96 and above one, those have the five speed transmission. If you don't need the sport package you can steal one (they drive the same w/or without the package.) Get around a 50k to 75k mile one for somewhere in the mid to upper teens. You will never get a more thoroughly engineered car for less. Ever.
They are reliable provided you do the repair work yourself. Take it to a Mercedes mechanic and odds are strong he fuck you into the rafters just because of the V12 emblem and suspension. You can repair it yourself, it isn't difficult for the things that might actually break. Engine and transmission are very good long term.
If you refuse to work on a car then you are better off with a 'vette, as the repair bill won't fuck you, it will just heavy pet you in a foul manner. I would suggest an NSX but they are too expensive used for what you get.
