Ken Lay was the CEO of Enron. That is where the buck STOPPED. He was indicted and convicted of Securities Fraud. Lay was NOT a good man. He was the personification of what is wrong with Corporate America. He FAILED. Ken Lay was a loser of epic proportion.
He was a decent and honest man, and your pathetic attempts to smear him reflect badly on you--NOT HIM!

So were his brother and father. I liked the sister, though, she was the only good Lay in the whole bunch.

Apparently the COURTS disagree with your assessment. Apparently 20,000 Enron employees disagree with your assessment. Stockholders who lost $60Billion in market value somewhat disagree with Honest as he spent millions while Enron was crashing.

Ken Lay didn't even have a Shrinking28 to back him up. Even his buddy Bush, who benefited financially during the 2000 election cycle [Lay's jet] walked away from him. He and his buddies figured out how to cheat the system, he got caught, he got indicted, he got tried, he got convicted. Had he lived he would have gone to Federal Prison for his crimes.

Somehow "Securities Fraud", "Gaming the System", Bankruptcy and "Grabbing the last nickels" are incongruous with "decent and honest man". The quote "Most will never forgive him for Enron's collapse, and they all remember that he advised them to keep their company shares when he was off-loading his own." sums up Lay pretty well.

Decent and Honest do not.

Being from the Right, we knew you wouldn't be so fond of his brother Chip.

Everyone called him 'Tater.

I am suddenly reminded how much they have in common...

I was reading a quick bio of Ken Lay and the parallels are somewhat staggering. From their belief in Divine Intervention to a complete and utter shock that folks would believe that they could or would do anything wrong.

And the surprise that folks would actually hold them accountable for their actions seems like an alien concept. Truly an interesting concept.

Held to account they were. Too bad ol' Kenny-boy up and died before becoming some lifer's bitch.

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and thats what I intend to reverse.

With great responsibility comes great accountability. I know GW must have missed class that day. I still recall an amazing televised interview in which GW promoted the idea that he didn't feel a need to explain himself or his actions to anybody. To the contrary, he suggested that everyone else was obliged to explain themselves to him.
