20 years worth of sermons boiled down to a 30 second clip by political opponents falls somewhat short as a basis of allegations -- even around here.

According to the latest polls the voters don't agree with that statement.

Au contraire, people around here make stuff up out of vapor and call it fact with depressing regularity. With Obama we have an actual record: He likes voting for more taxes and is tolerant of bigots.

So GS, is Obama REALLY your candidate? Some libertarian.

B

The biggest problems we are facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all and thatís what I intend to reverse.

It may not be saying much, but he is closer to a libertarian ideal than our current WH resident (unless you equate global hegemony with libertarianism). It's a sorry lot that we've been left with, but if I'm forced to eat a maggot, I'll choose the smallest one.

On a side note, seems more than a bit ironic having a steadfast Bush apologist criticize anyone's libertarian credentials.

Tell me what makes Obama a libertarian.

I am no longer willing to compromise for the lesser of evils. If you eat a maggot, that's your choice.

"Bush apologist". I agree with one thing that guy has done and I'm an "apologist". Golly, I like the autobahn and I'm a Hitler apologist.

I guess by your logic, you're an Obama apologist?

Dude, your Bush apologia-record spans at least five years, and it's not just your fawning praise for the Iraq fiasco and TWAT--you're forever joined at the hip with a mass-murdering NeoCon misanthrope. Bummer that

Back on the subject, What is it that Obama offers that represents libertarianism?

I'll give you a hint as to what most libertarians subscribe to.

1. Open markets?
2. Reduced government intervention in business?
3. Reduced government intervention in the lives of citizens?
4. Free trade?
5. Reduced taxes?
6. Increased federalism (as opposed to national government supremacy)?
7. Privatization of social security?
8. 2nd Amendment support?
9. Legalized drugs?
10. Legalized sex trade?
11. Reduction in overseas commitments, including but not limited to the military.

Of those, where do I depart from libertarian belief?

In your staunch, consistent support for all things Bush, who on an authoritarian scale of 1 to 10, rates about a 9.6 (being generous). Less authoritarian = more libertarian.
